From Kansas City International Airport
(Approx. drive time = 1 hour)
- The airport exit is located on LP Cookingham Dr./MO-D. Proceed out of the airport via Cookingham Dr/MO-D and exit onto I-29 S/US-71 towards Kansas City. Go ~ 4.0 miles.
- Take MO-152 Exit #9B (Topeka) and proceed west on MO-152. Go ~ 5.0 miles.
- Take I-435 S (to Topeka). Go ~ 11.5 miles.
- Take Exit #12 (to I-70/Kansas Turnpike). The Kansas Turnpike becomes I-70 West. Go ~ 22.6 miles. Turnpike tolls from Kansas City to Lawrence are under $1.50.
- Exit I-70 at the West Lawrence Turnpike exit (exit #202), proceeding through the toll lanes onto McDonald Drive. Proceed south on McDonald Drive for ~ 1.2 miles.
- McDonald Drive passes under an overpass and merges left onto Iowa Street/Highway 59. Continue south on Iowa ~ 1.4 miles.
- You should pass traffic light intersections at 9th, Harvard, 15th, and 19th Streets.
- Take the first right after 19th Street onto West Campus - this should be 21st Street.
- The Kansas Biological Survey is located in the Takeru Higuchi Building, the southernmost building in the complex that should be directly in front of you once you've turned onto 21st Street.
Parking:
Visitor's Parking is located in the parking lot directly in front of the Higuchi Building. Parking permits are required for all visitor vehicles. Visitor parking permits may be obtained inside the building, in the KBS Main Office (Room 108).
