Specialty: Remote Sensing, bathymetric mapping, sediment thickness estimation and type classification, and submerged aquatic vegetation surveys.
Background: Mark Jakubauskas earned his B.A. in Physical Geography at the State University of New York at Geneseo, his M.A. in Physical Geography at Indiana State University, and his Ph.D. in Geography at the University of Kansas.
Current research interests: Dr. Jakubauskas' current research interests include managing the Applied Science and Technology for Reservoir Assessment (ASTRA) initiative. ASTRA was created in 2006 in response to the need for critical information concerning the status and condition of reservoirs across the state of Kansas. ASTRA conducts bathymetric mapping, sediment thickness estimation and type classification, fish surveys, and submerged aquatic vegetation surveys. ASTRA is particularly interested in potential issues that result from a decrease in reservoir water quality and storage capacity.
