Specialty: Remote sensing applications.
Background: Jerry Whistler received a BA and MA in Geography at the University of Kansas. Since joining the KARS Program in 1982, Jerry has directed or been involved with numerous statewide and regional projects involving remote sensing applications and/or database development. He currently serves as the Survey's representative on the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of the Kansas GIS Policy Board.
Current research interests: Jerry's research focuses on digital land use/land cover inventory, phenology-based vegetation classification techniques, and the use of remote sensing data to model agricultural non-point source pollution.
